02 The Atrium building
The area takes its name from the Atrium building, built in the mid-1970s as a shopping centre, then acquired by the Québec government in 1987 and converted into offices. Today it houses the ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts.
03 Services and schools
1re Avenue brings together everyday shops. The Galeries Charlesbourg site is the subject of a redevelopment project combining housing and retail. Public schools belong to the Centre de services scolaire des Premières-Seigneuries, including École de la Fourmilière (elementary) and Polyvalente de Charlesbourg.
04 Getting around
Métrobus 801 runs along 1re Avenue and Métrobus 803 uses Boulevard de l'Atrium. The Laurentienne and Félix-Leclerc highways are close by. The tramway is to end in Charlesbourg, at the corner of 1re Avenue and 41e Rue, where a transit hub is planned. Service is scheduled for 2033.
